Kalgoorlie

Kalgoorlie

On Monday 30th May I headed for Kalgoorlie. I wanted to see some red dirt, and check out the Super Pit mine. There were a few things that were unexpected surprises on this trip. The first was just how flat this country is....... you can see for miles and miles. The town is so flat it is hard to imagine and it blew me away. Also the old buildings, they are amazing and there is SO many of them, they are everywhere. I could spend weeks just photographing old buildings.

Here is a pic of the Ettamogah Pub, this is on the way to Kalgoorlie.

The water pipe that runs from Perth to Kalgoorlie.

The road to Kalgoorlie is very long and VERY straight!!!

A photo of the Super Pit in Kalgoorlie. I have heaps of pics from here, I will edit and join some together then put some more up in a seperate post.

A 200 tonne dump truck!!

2-Up shed...........
this is where the locals play 2-up. 2-up is a gambling game using pennies.
It is illegal, this is in the bush out of town.

Broad Arrow Tavern

These are the walls inside the Broad Arrow Tavern, they are written all over in vivid marker, everyone signs them and obviously have done for many years.

The bar at the Broad Arrow Tavern.

The road to Ora Banda....check out the red dirt!!!

This is the entrance to an old mine.

The sign says it all really.....
Last chance for food and petrol for longlong time!!!

And to finish off some pics of gumtrees.....I love the red colour of these!!!
